Do I need a Comprehensive Sprinkler System CheckUp?

Updated: Dec 5, 2020

This sprinkler system needs a Comprehensive Sprinkler System Checkup

This is a common question we receive. The short answer is YES and the reasons why may shock you!

A routine Comprehensive Sprinkler System Checkup is an important part of maintaining a healthy lawn and landscape. It helps to promote a balanced relationship between water/grass, plants and trees/soil. More importantly, having a Comprehensive Sprinkler System Checkup performed will also help keep away high water bills by identifying any issues that need resolving.

DID YOU KNOW?

An irrigation system that has a leak of 1/32nd of an inch in diameter (about the thickness of a dime) can waste about 6,300 gallons of water per month.

Sprinkler systems are typically installed using standard industry equipment, which is not bad. If the controller is not programmed correctly though, it could cause excess run-off or inconsistent watering that will only do damage to your landscape. Also, newer technology is available that can help save water, up to 50% annually, and giving your landscape exactly the right amount of water it needs at the right time. (Important Fact: Sprinkler systems are designed to supplement nature's rainfall not replace it.)

Speaking about wasting water, do you have a sprinkler head that refuses to go down and is constantly sticking up? The faulty sprinkler head may be losing water because of not sealing properly and wasting water. To many leaking sprinkler heads can reduce the overall effectiveness and efficiency of your sprinkler system and can put undue stress on your landscape.

Either way, too much or too little watering is not healthy for your grass, landscape, and trees. The excess or lack of water stresses your grass, plants, and trees which leads to other issues like diseases or improper nutrient uptake essentially starving the grass, plant or tree.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to the EPA, outdoor watering is a big culprit of water waste. Up to 50 percent of the water we use outdoors is lost due to wind, evaporation, and runoff caused by inefficient irrigation methods and systems.
